How to keep your Premier Platinum status?
You can keep the platinum status till Jan 2026 by Fly 15 PQF and earn 5,000 PQP on flights operated by United or United Express within the 120 days.
📢🚨 Note:
PQP (Premier Qualifying Points) and PQF (Premier Qualifying Flights) are two important qualifying systems for United Airlines. For flights issued by United, you earn 1 PQP for every dollar spent on the base fare and carrier-imposed surcharges. For partner flights, the way you earn PQPs depends on the flight distance and service class, and it is usually based on flight miles rather than ticket price. Some United partners may not offer PQPs, so it’s important to confirm before booking.
Additionally, other charges with United, such as Economy Plus seats, priority seating, paid upgrades, and MileagePlus upgrade co-pays, can also earn PQPs. For every United flight (except basic economy), whether using reward or paid tickets, you earn 1 PQF per segment. Most partner flights also offer 1 PQF per segment.

FAQ
Can Premier Gold enable you to join the United Club?
No, Premier Gold status with United Airlines does not provide direct access to the United Club. United Club access is typically granted to Premier Platinum, Premier 1K members, or those who have United Club memberships or eligible credit cards.
However, Premier Gold members can enjoy certain lounge benefits when flying internationally with United or Star Alliance partners, but they do not have the automatic access to United Club lounges on domestic flights.
How much does United Premier Gold cost?
The American United Airlines Premier Gold membership is not obtained through direct purchase, but is earned by accumulating a certain number of flight miles or completing a certain number of flights. However, the cost of obtaining the Premier Gold card depends on the amount of your spending on flights operated by United Airlines and its partners. The PQP accumulation is based on your flight spending, including the base fare and the additional fees charged by the airlines. For example, for every $1 spent on a qualifying flight, you can earn 1 PQP.
If you mainly take flights with United Airlines, it might take some time and effort to obtain this level of service. However, you can use the Vip Hotel Travel Fast Track to facilitate your upgrade to this level. All you need to do is pay a few hundred dollars, and you will receive a 120-day valid United Airlines Gold Card, as well as the Star Alliance Gold Card membership. All you need to do is complete four flights operated by United Airlines within 120 days.
How to keep United Premier Gold status?
If you wish to maintain your United Airlines Premier Gold status, you need to fly on eligible paid flights operated by United Airlines or United Express. After accumulating 1 million miles, you will be permanently granted the United Airlines Gold Card membership. When flying on flights operated by partner airlines, you will not be able to accumulate miles or advance to the United Airlines Million Mile Club membership level.
Is United MileagePlus Gold worth it?
As a frequent traveler, whether obtaining United Airlines Premier Gold status is worth it mainly depends on your flying habits and what benefits you value most from the airline. Here are some key points:
Firstly, if you fly frequently with United, Premier Gold status will undoubtedly enhance your travel experience. The benefits of Gold status, such as priority boarding, free checked luggage, priority security screening, and access to lounges within the Star Alliance network, greatly improve comfort and convenience, especially on long international flights. These benefits not only make your travel smoother but also save you money, such as waiving the typical $35 to $40 per flight for checked baggage.
In addition, Gold members earn extra reward miles, which help you accumulate miles faster for future award flights. For frequent travelers, the miles you earn can be a valuable return on your travel, adding more value to your trips.
However, it’s important to note that while Gold members have some opportunity for upgrades, they rank fourth in priority out of United’s four status levels. Therefore, your chances of receiving an upgrade are relatively lower. If your primary focus is on upgrades, you may want to consider aiming for a higher tier, such as Premier Platinum or Premier 1K, for a better chance at upgrades.
Additionally, with the ability to earn more PQP (Premier Qualifying Points) through credit card spending, many frequent flyers find it easier to reach Gold status, making it more attainable. However, if you don’t fly frequently or most of your flights are short-haul and you can’t take full advantage of the international benefits, the value of Gold status might not meet your expectations.
Overall, for frequent travelers, especially those flying internationally, United Premier Gold status is definitely worth pursuing due to the convenience of airport services, cost savings, and additional miles rewards. However, if you don’t fly often or don’t need upgrades or international benefits, investing in Gold status may not be as valuable. Before deciding to earn PQP, it’s important to weigh your need for these benefits and their value to you.
How to become United Lifetime Gold Status?
To become a United Airlines Gold Card member, you need to accumulate 1 million miles by taking eligible paid flights operated by United Airlines or United Express. Once this mileage requirement is met, you will permanently retain your United Airlines Gold Card membership.
It should be noted that taking flights operated by partner airlines of United Airlines will not count towards the accumulated mileage, and therefore one cannot be promoted to the United Airlines’ “Million Mile Club” membership level.
In short, the key to becoming a United Airlines lifetime gold card member is to continuously accumulate miles on United Airlines and its alliance member flights. Once the requirement of 1 million miles is met, one will be granted permanent gold card status and will no longer need to continuously meet the corresponding mileage or flight segment requirements each year.
